I was really hesitant when I first considered fly fishing. My brother tried to get me into it but I had to give it some serious thought. He told me initially that I could rent fly fishing gear so I’d be able to decide how much I liked it before I decided to commit.
My brother and I planned a long weekend a couple of hours from home on a semi-local river. There was a place where we could book a guide for a day of fly fishing and is could also rent all of my equipment.
It made more sense for me to rent because it was much cheaper than buying everything outright. Plus, there was obviously a chance that I wouldn’t like it. My brother seemed to think this would be impossible, but he just wants me to like the things he likes so he has someone to do them with.
When the trip actually happened, I wasn’t expecting much. I tend to not get overly excited about things, but my brother was super stoked. It was almost annoying.
I can humbly admit that I was totally wrong. I had a great time. My brother could not wait to drop an “I told you so” on me. As obnoxious as it was, he was not wrong.
The next day we went out fly fishing on our own. I was still a little shaky but I was starting to get the hang of it. This was something I could definitely do on a regular basis.
On the way home I got into a conversation about fly fishing gear. I asked him, hypothetically, if I was interested in taking this up as a real hobby, where I should begin to look for things. He was obviously overjoyed to share what he knew.
He told me all about Trouts Fly Fishing: the educational resources which he suggested I dive into right away, the customer service, and the quality of the products. He recently purchased their G. Loomis IMX-PRO Fly Rod, and said that if I wanted to take it for a spin, I was welcome to, so I could see if I liked it.
That week I sat down and did a lot of research and read a lot of the educational material that Trouts Fly Fishing had to offer. I was going to give my brother’s fly rod a try this upcoming weekend. I was excited and nervous at the same time. This was going to be a big commitment.
Just as I suspected, I loved the fly fishing rod and ordered mine shortly thereafter. I can’t rave about this company enough. I certainly will get all of my equipment through them, just from this one buying experience. I couldn’t be happier with my decision.
